FIRELANDS SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA CANCELS PATRIOTIC POPS CONCERT AMID GROWING COVID CONCERNS

SANDUSKY, OH – Due to growing COVID concerns and in the interest of safety for their patrons and musicians, The Firelands Symphony Orchestra (FSO) has made the difficult decision to cancel their PORTRAITS OF AMERICAN HEROISM patriotic pops concert on Sunday, January 16.

“It was not an easy decision, but after reviewing the growing number of COVID cases and speaking with our local health officials, the Board of Directors elected to cancel the event and keep our patrons, musicians, staff, and volunteers safe during this turbulent time,” said Executive Director Tricia Applegate.

The FSO would like to thank the sponsors who pledged their support for this concert: Randolph J. & Estelle M. Dorn Foundation (Principal Benefactor), Mylander Foundation (Season Sponsor & Platinum Concert Sponsor), SecureSight (Bronze Concert Sponsor), and Ohio Arts Council.

At this time, the FSO plans to present their remaining season concerts: Hope for a New World (February 19 at 7:30 P.M.), Melodic Languages of Love (March 26 at 7:30 P.M.), and Venture Into Nature (April 24 at 4:00 P.M.). Tickets for these concerts are available at firelandssymphony.com/tickets or by calling the FSO office at 419.621.4800.

For fans of the patriotic pops concerts, the FSO is currently planning a special Independence Day pops concert with two shows on July 2 (at Marblehead Lighthouse) and July 4 (at Jackson Street Pier). Stay tuned to the FSO website and social media for more details on these special events.

Current ticket-holders for the cancelled January 16 concert will be contacted with various options including: donate their ticket dollars in support of the FSO, exchange for a future concert, or receive a refund.
