Financial Counseling Now Available at Firelands Federal Credit Union
BELLEVUE, OH- Firelands Federal Credit Union (Firelands FCU) will now provide free, private financial
counseling sessions to members and the local community at all of their branches.
Firelands FCU is pleased to recognize 15 team members for recently earning their Certified Credit
Union Financial Counselor (CCUFC) designation to kick-start the new counseling program.
To receive the CCUFC designation, each team member successfully completed the CUNA Financial
Counseling Certification Program, a 5-month training consisting of nine courses and a final proctored
exam. The program was developed to help identify financial challenges and provide intervention and
assistance to help members secure a path to reach their long-term financial goals.
With Certified Credit Union Financial Counselors on staff, Firelands FCU is now able to better:
• Help individuals budget money, build savings, improve credit scores, and decrease debt.
• Provide clarity for members while mapping out financial goals
• Remove roadblocks and establish plans that help navigate the unexpected
“When people fall on hard times, it can be overwhelming to navigate them without guidance,” said
Dominic Despues, Senior Vice President of Member Experience. “With our 15 certified financial
counselors, Firelands FCU members and the areas we serve have more resources available to them
when they are in need.”
